Earl Thomas Shuman, 84, St. Joseph, Mo., died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Tamaqua, Penn., the son of Earl and Gladys Shuman.

He married Ona-Marie Yocam in St. Joseph, Feb. 20, 1943. She survives of the home.

He graduated from high school and served in the Army during World War II. He spent most of his life in St. Joseph and was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1668, and Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a brother, Kenneth, and a great-grandchild.

He is also survived by three sons, Dennis Shuman of Forest City, Mo., Patrick Shuman of Cosby, Mo., and Michael Shuman of Oregon, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church, St. Joseph, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
