Joseph George Arnoldy, 85, of Marysville died Sept. 9, 2001, at Fremont Medical Center. Born in Blue Hill, Neb., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 79 years. He was co-owner of the Yuba City Dental Lab, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville; a former member of the Plumas Lake Golf and Country Club; and past president of the Marysville Lions Club. He was a member of the Marysville Council Knights of Columbus for 63 years, serving as Grand Knight and twice as "Knight of the Year"; past State Warden of California State Council of Knights of Columbus and on several state committees; past president of Northern California Chapter Knights of Columbus; and past faithful navigator of Santa Maria Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a graduate of Notre Dame Elementary School and Marysville Union High School, played for the Marysville Giants in the Old Sacramento Valley baseball league and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, a daughter, and a sister. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Verna D. Arnoldy; an infant daughter; five brothers, Michael Arnoldy, Edward Arnoldy, Nicholas Arnoldy, Anthony Arnoldy and Charles Arnoldy; and four sisters, Angeline Cremers, Madeline Divine, Gertrude Palen and Eleanor Heinrich.

Contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Organ Fund; or to the American Diabetes Association.

Services: Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. until the rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hutchison and Carnes Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville, followed by burial in Sierra View Memorial Park.
