Aug. Arnholz, 87, Pioneer Shoto Stone Cutter Passes Away

August Arnholz, 87, pioneer stone cutter, and a resident of Shoto since 1866, passed away this morning at the hospital here, of diseases incident to old age.

The deceased was born in Germany in 1842 and came to this country when a young man of 24, settling in the town of Two Rivers. He took up the stone cutting trade which he continued until he retired.

He was married in 1873 to Miss M. Holtger, who survives him with five daughters, Mrs. Charles Hardow, city, Mrs. John Peterek, Rockland, Mrs. Louis Ahrens, city, Mrs. Wm. Mueller, Shoto and Mrs. Jos. Bernard, of Milwaukee. Twenty two grand children and twenty great grand children also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon from the John Peterek home at Rockwood, and at two o'clock from the Lutheran church there, with Rev. Zell officiating. The remains are at the Frazier mortuary, Ninth and Chicago streets, where they may be viewed until four o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
