J.M. Hart Dead.
J.M. Hart, who has been ill for some time, died Saturday night at 9:15 at the home of his son, Harry L. Hart. The immediate cause of his death was paralysis. Just one week ago he suffered a stroke and from this he never rallied. However, he had been in failing health for more than a year and during this time suffered from affections of the heart.
The funeral services were held at the family home this afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. S.A. Chappell of the First Methodist Episcopal church having charge of the service. The music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mesdames Frank Siverd and Charles Quier and Messrs. W.J. Sage and W.G. Anderson. Burial was made in Graham cemetery.
John Miles Hart was born October 28, 1854 at Paradise, Ill. He was the son of Daniel S. and Eliza Hart. He came to Kansas in 1878, settling in this county near Dexter. In 1881 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Weakley and to them two sons were born, one dying in infancy.
Mr. Hart has been, since his arrival in Kansas, a resident of Cowley county and Winfield, except for three years he spent farming in Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Isabelle Hart and his son, Harry L. Hart, and a sister, Mrs. E.O. Bourdette, of Wichita.
The pallbearers were: John Anderson, R.T. Richardson, Fred Davey, L.W. Hoover, T.W. Routsong and James Bethel.
