She was born in her parents' home in rural Sadorus on Aug. 27, 1925, the second child of Floyd A. and Grace Marie (Cramer) Farley.
She married Paul Dougherty Meharry on Nov. 30, 1947, just six months after they met on a blind date. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2005.
Jean will be dearly missed by her four children, Nancy (Jerry) Henry, Jill (Don) Gurke, Brian (Theresa) Meharry and Mark (Carol) Meharry; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold F. (Roberta) Farley and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Floyd Kent and her brother-in-law, Jesse D. Meharry.
Mrs. Meharry attended grade and high school in Sadorus, graduated from Burnham School of Nursing, Champaign in 1946 and was employed at Burnham Hospital.
Jean was a member of and active in the Tolono United Methodist Church.
She cared for her mother, Grace, until her death in 2001 at the age of 101.
Jean and Paul were able to travel often and visited Alaska, Hawaii and most of the other states, always seeking out the state capitol buildings, which were often very pretty and impressive.
