Newton Earl Givens Sr. was known to loved ones as "Dusty." He lived in Michigan, Mississippi, and Alabama during his life, and served time on the U.S.S. Dobbin during World War II while in the United States Navy.

"GIVENS, Newton E., age 81, passed away Tuesday morning, 09-11-07, at the Montgomery Regional VA Medical Center. He was a highly decorated WWII Navy veteran. Survivors include his sister, Louise Williams; five children, Larry C. Givens, Rusty Givens, Bill Givens, Pat Givens, and Kevin Givens; nine grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren."
