Mrs. Odessa Sandlin Parkerson, age 83, of Alexandria, TN, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at DeKalb Community Hospital, Smithville, TN. Mrs. Parkerson was born August 10, 1923 in Alexandria, TN, the daughter of the late Irene Foutch and James Eskel Sandlin. She was a 1942 graduate of Liberty High School. She was married on April 8, 1945 to Robert Parkerson, who preceded her in death on October 1, 2000. Their daughter, Roberta Parkerson Kimbro preceded her in death on October 8, 2001. Mrs Parkerson worked for several years at the Alexandria Shirt Company, retiring in 1992. She was a long time member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Alexandria, TN. Mrs Parkerson is survived by a son and daughter in law, Danny and Pat Parkerson of Alexandria, TN; son-in-law, Franklin Kimbro of Antioch, TN; three grandchildren: Matthew (Julie) Kimbro of Alexandria, VA; Kelly Parkerson of Alexandria, TN and Rachel Kimbro of Nashville, TN; great granddaughter, Keelan Kimbro of Alexandria, VA; sisters; Ruth Brockway of Houston, TX and Jo Doris Flatt of Sebastin, Fl; brother, Tony Sandlin of Detroit, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs Parkerson will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, Alexandria, tN, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 2 PM, conducted by Bro Ronnie Smith and Bro Curt Wagoner. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. The Parkerson family will receive friends at the Avant Funeral Home, Alexandria, TN on Tuesday from 10 AM to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until 1 PM. Mrs Parkerson will lie in state at the New Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday one hour prior to the 2 PM service.
