Oleta Jynelle Byrd Caffey (1930-2015) Oleta Jynelle Byrd Caffey, age 85, of Gun Barrel City, Texas promoted from her earthly home into our Heavenly Father's healing arms on Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the Kaufman Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs Caffey graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1947. She went to Tyler Business school and graduated in 1948. She married Billy Caffey on October 23, 1949. Mrs Caffey retired January 3, 1995 from the federal government with 32 years, 7 months, and 4 days. During her career she worked for CSC, USDA and EPA. After she retired she became very active in the Cedar Creek Lake Root Seekers, Cedar Creek Lake Garden Club, Cedar Creek Women's Club, and the Literary Club of Cedar Creek Lake. In these clubs she held several different offices. She was also a member of the Cedar Creek Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 5-14 for over 20 years and held several offices there. Mrs Caffey was a member of the Confederate Rose Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Sarah Maples Chapter. Mrs. Caffey had a great love for Genealogy. She spent many hours doing research and visiting relatives across the country. Mrs. Caffey was born on April 2, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas, the daughter of parents Willie Aaron and Bertha Dodson Byrd, both deceased. Mrs. Caffey was the widow of the late Billy Gene Caffey and was also preceded in death by her son Ricky Maurice Caffey, brothers Joe Bruce Byrd, Dell Roy Byrd, and William Arnold Byrd. She is survived by her sons; Derris Wade Caffey and wife, Jean of DeSoto Texas; Kenneth Ray Caffey and wife, Pam of Kaufman Texas; grandsons Brandon Caffey and Rodney Caffey; grand daughters, Tracy Parker, Whitney Tijerina, Emily Alvarado, Kelly Caffey, Lori Torres, 9 great grand children, her aunt Dortha Willis, sisters-in-law Judy Byrd and Bobbie Buck, and numerous nieces and nephews.
