He was born February 21, 1932 in Brant, South Dakota, the son of Gilbert & Nettie (Molstad) Anderson.
He married Carol A. Pavicich April 24, 1978 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.
He received his B.S. degree from South Dakota State University and his M.S. degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Norman taught at Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle, Washington, Sioux City Center High School in Iowa, Rock Rapids Central Lyon High School in Iowa, U.N.I physics labs and class and retired from Cedar Falls High School after 35 years of teaching.
He was a member of AMVETS and was an avid golfer, bowler, pool player and handyman.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy J. Petroff; five brothers, Raymond, Willis, Roland, Jarvin, and Ernest Anderson; and two sisters, Grace Melland and Arlene Gronseth.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Falls High School science department, American Cancer Society or the church.
