ARMAND E. KAPPELLE SR., 56, of 116 Rodman St., a toolmaker before retiring because of illness, died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Sylvia (Benjamin) Kappelle.

A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Pierre and Blanche (Antaya) Kappelle.

Mr. Kappelle was a member of Smithfield Lodge of Elks. He was an avid fisherman. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Mr. Kappelle was an Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Armand E. Kappelle Jr. of Woonsocket; a daughter, Renay Sawyer of Bellingham, Mass., and four grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Avenue. Burial was private.
