Daughter of Alexander McGregor who came from Scotland in 1837 to Australia and pursued his trade as a wheelwright and bridge builder. Alexander married Elizabeth McLeod at 'Fordwich' on 10 September 1862.
The couple lived in a house 'Charlton' then 'Abbey Green' finally moving to their property 'Kilmuir' at Bulga on the eastern bank of Cockfighters Creek about one and a half miles from the present bridge.
Eliza worked tirelessly for her lifelong interest, the Salvation Army. She drove in a sulky around Bulga and Singleton collecting donations.
Alexander and Eliza had a family of eight.
