BISHOP, Lester Eugene, "Gene", 72, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 24, 2000. He retired from Norfolk & Southern Railway, known to his fellow workers as Lewis. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ruth Hogan Bishop; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Tina Bishop of Buchanan; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Les Craig of Roanoke and Debbie and Tom Blevins of Roanoke; grandchildren, Larry S., Tommy, Melissa, Kristin, Adam and Kendra; two great-grandchildren, Mya and Marley. Also surviving are two brothers, Everett Bishop of Troutville and Thomas Bishop of Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, please consider Juvenile Diabetes. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Mike Hogan officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
