She was surrounded by family as she concluded her seven-year battle with Alzheimer's on November 22, 2015. Mae graduated as salutatorian of Axtell High in 1961 and from nurses training at Bryan Memorial in Lincoln in 1964. She married Dale Ommen in February 1965 in Kearney before moving to Omaha. Mae used her nursing degree at Immanuel Hospital, Mutual of Omaha and the USPS. Mae is best known for her smile, listening skills and her baking – particularly her brownies.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, David and wife Karen Ommen, Kevin and wife Dawn Ommen, and Julie Ommen, all of Omaha; grandchildren, Danielle, Reagan, Alex, Hudson and Turner; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Beverly Kring of Axtell, NE; and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff at VNA Hospice and HCE Cottage 72 for their exceptional care of "Miss Mae" during the last three years.

VISITATION Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 5-8pm at Braman Mortuary, 72nd St. Chapel. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Wednesday, November 25, 2015, 10am at Christ Community Church Chapel, 404 S. 108th Ave. Interment Flower Hill Cemetery.
