She began her career in social services in Milwaukie’s inner city and migrated to Oregon where she worked with CETA (Comprehensive Employment and Training Act), Riverside Training Centers, and completed her professional career as an educator and counselor aiding displaced workers at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington.

Her passions included her rural home and land where she farmed, raised goats, chickens, and rabbits, and enjoyed organic gardening.

She enjoyed spending time with friends including her book group, human rights groups, and other local activists.

In the 1970s, Marjorie helped to create the Women’s Resource Center in St.Helens, Oregon, now known locally as SAFE of Columbia County. She was involved for many years as a crisis line volunteer, safe home for domestic violence abuse victims, and a board member.

In the 1980s Marjorie became an important member of Columbia County Citizens for Human Dignity both as a board member and volunteer. She later became involved with the Rural Organizing Project, a group seeking equality and justice for all.
