Bill was the youngest man ever elected Grand High Priest of the Masonic Lodge in the United States.

Billy Eugene O'Brate, son of Merrill and Bessie Lilly O'Brate, was born at Carrier, Oklahoma, February 23, 1930. He attended country schools in Oklahoma until the family moved to the Syracuse, Kansas area in 1944. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1947 and attended college in Garden City (Kansas) and Stillwater, Oklahoma, after which he began farming with his father near Syracuse.

He raised his three children - Barbara, William "Billy", and Gary.

He was the brother of Anthony Allen and Helen Lee O'Brate

Bill obtained his private pilot's license at age 17.

He was my big brother, and a wonderful uncle to my 3 sons.

He appointed himself my guardian when I was born and he was 10 years old. He never failed me once.

Cause of death-lung cancer.
