Mr. Beal was a lifetime farmer and owned a farm in Clear Creek Township from 1959 until 1996. He retired January 1, 1981, after 20 years as a machine operator, from Dana Corporation in Marion. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Amity Masonic F & AM Lodge #483, Bippus Lions and Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter #75 all of Huntington. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne. Ernie graduated in 1934 from Lancaster Township High School.

Mr. Beal was born in Lancaster Township, Huntington, to Roy and Gertrude (Brauchla) Beal. He married M. Eloise Selle on October 9, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN. She preceded him in death on November 16, 1996.

Survivors include three sons – David (Susan) Beal of Ft. Wayne, IN, Richard Beal of N. Manchester, IN and Robert Beal of Huntington; one daughter – Mrs. William (Marilyn) Wilfert of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; three sisters – Effie Mae Zent of Huntington, Thresa Ruest of Huntington and Mrs. Herb (Esther) Adams of Ft. Wayne, IN and seven grandchildren. Sisters – Mary Fulhart and Helen Ball, preceded him in death.
