NEWPORT NEWS - Eastel Harold Meadows, 81, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born on May 21, 1934 in Squire, WV. He was a Newport News resident for 63 years. Harold worked for the Newport News Fire Department (NNFD) from 1956-1989, retiring as Battalion Chief. He was the youngest person to achieve the ranking of Captain for NNFD. He was a member of the Newport News FF Association and a lifetime member of the International Firefighters Association, AFL-CIO. He was also a faithful member of Parkview Church of God. His favorite hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Harrison and Ona Ethel Cox Meadows; and his brother, Darold Meadows. Harold is survived by his son, Eastel Harold Meadows, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Huntsville, AL; his daughters, Aurdrey Diacont and her husband, Dale, of Waynesboro, VA, and Robin Roylance and her husband, Gordon, of Elizabeth City, NC; his sisters, Marriel Nuckles, Carol Dame Kennerly, and Geraldine Daniels; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2015 in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
