Luella Bell Heroux, 65, died Aug. 2, 2002, at her Long Beach home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Beatrice, Neb., to John and Leota (Munson) Mather. As a child, she moved with her family to Portland, where she graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School.
Mrs. Heroux worked in retail sales in Portland and later in Longview, where she lived for a number of years. She moved to Long Beach in 1987 where she worked as a clerk in the bakery section of Sid's Market and later as a clerk at Ilwaco Market until retiring. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening, crocheting, stitchery, her dogs and winters in Arizona. She was outgoing and made many friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She married Elmer Heroux on Oct. 3, 1970, in Longview. He survives her at home. Also surviving are four sons, Doug Heroux and Don Heroux, both of Longview, Dan Heroux of Columbia City, Ore., and Sam Rudd of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Theresa Classen of Phoenix; a sister, Burdett Peterson of Sun City, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A brother preceded her in death.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach.
