Daughter of Albert "Abbey" Barnes and Louisa Lucas-McGill.
Granddaughter of Magill Lucas and Mary Gill Lucas-McGill
Granddaughter of John Robert Barnes and Civil Goff.
Abbey and his wife died when Marilla was 7 years old. David Barnes, her uncle, raised her with his family.

Her obituary in the Pensacola News Journal (Pensacola, Florida) Tue. Aug 27, 1968; had several mistakes. Name Charlotte (not Charlette). She was a native of Van Cleave, MS (not Ban Cleve) and she was a member of the Reorganized Lattter Day Saints Church ( not LDS Mormon).
