Hazel Byrde Wallenmaier, 96, of Mikado, died on Wednesday,
Nov. 4, 2015 at Sunshine Gardens AFC in Alpena.
She was born February 22, 1919, to Delbert and Inez
(Walker) Apsey of Lincoln. She was a lifelong resident of the
area.
She married Russell Wallenmaier in 1941, and they owned
and operated a farm. After retiring, they enjoyed travelling to
Alaska and Florida.
She spent many hours at Lincoln Haven playing games
with residents. She loved the companionship of her friends,
and playing games.
Mrs. Wallenmaier is survived by two sons, Eugene
Wallenmaier of Alpena and Ronald (Gail) Wallenmaier of
Mikado; one daughter, Mary (Al) Poirier of Charleston, S.C.;
five grandchildren, Lisa Lacorazza, Barry Wallenmaier, Jarod
Wallenmaier, Jason Wallenmaier, and Tracey Erbe; nine
great-grandchildren, Analise, Lydia and Vincent Lacorazza
and Christian, Ethan and Alex Wallenmaier, all of Massachusetts,
Connor Wallenmaier of Oscoda, and Faith and
Ryken Wallenmaier of Mikado; and one sister, Dorothy
(Jack) Cole of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, on
May 21, 2010; one daughter-in-law, Sierra Jean Wallenmaier;
one grandson, Adam Tait; two sisters; and six brothers.
Visitation and the funeral service was held at Gillies
Funeral Home, Lincoln, on Saturday, Nov. 7. Dr. Rev. Arie
Van Brenk officiated. Burial was in the Mikado Cemetery.
