Bud Arkens, age 70, of 210 Lilac Drive, Francis Creek, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, December 27, 1995, at his residence.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 1995, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Theodore Hendricks will officiate with burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery.

He was born October 23, 1925, at Green Bay, Wis., Son of Claire DAoust Arkens and the late Raymond Arkens. He grew up in Klondike, Wis., attending schools in Oconto Falls and graduated from the Oconto Falls High School. After high school, he entered the United States Navy in 1943. He served aboard the U.S.S. Emery in the Pacific. He married Geraldine Losch September 27, 1947, at Spruce, Wis. Bud and his wife moved to Francis Creek in 1950. Bud worked for Yanda Motors in Manitowoc for many years until retiring in 1987. In his retirement years, Bud enjoyed his cottage and fishing at White Potato Lake. Bud was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, the Francis Creek Sportsman's Club, he was chief of Police for the village of Francis Creek for 13 years, also a Boy Scout leader for Troop #145 Rockwood Francis Creek for 10 years, and a charter member and founder of the Manitowoc County Youth Baseball League.

Survivors include his wife, Jerry; his mother, Claire Arkens, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Carol Arkens, Mishicot, Tom and Laurie Arkens, Mishicot; seven grandchildren, Craig, Curt, Brian, Alan, Tina, Paul and Kate; two sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Marty Katzka, Pound, Wis., Janet and Kenneth Weger, Francis Creek. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Anne and his father, Raymond.

Friends and relatives may call on Saturday at the St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no visitation at the Saur Funeral Home on Friday evening. Upon Bud's request, his casket will remain closed.
