Mercer, Pa., Feb. 23, Robert K. Patterson, aged 78, a retired contractor and builder, and one of Mercer's oldest and most respected citizens, died at Cottage State Hospital, Sunday morning, following an operation on Saturday.

Much of his life had been spent in Mercer, and he was actively engaged as a contractor and builder until a few years ago, when he retired and the business was taken over by his sons. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, and a man of sterling character. He is survived by three sons, J. A., J. M. and H. R., and two daughters, Mrs. W. J. Gillette and Miss Edna. The funeral was held this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment in Mercer Cemetery.
