t is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Steven Mark Abbitt who passed on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Indiana University Health North in Carmel, Indiana, after a short battle with cancer.
Steve was born on October 27, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana, to Charles and Ruth Mary Neal Abbitt. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1966, attended Indiana University and lived most of his life in Princeton, Indiana. Those who knew Steve remember his love of books, and sport, his sharp wit and keen sense of humor. He took particular pride in his children and grandchildren.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Charles Abbitt of Sheridan, Indiana and is survived by his mother Ruth Mary, sisters Patricia and Susan, brothers-in-law Steve and Donnie, daughters Angela, Andrea and Stephanie, step-son Sean, sons-in-law Jeff and Brant, grandchildren Elise, Avery, Alexis, Mary Frances and nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, the Carmel Health and Living Community and Indiana University Health North, for all the amazing care that was given.
A celebration of his life has been planned for family and close friends and ashes will be scattered in the spring on a family farm in Lebanon, where his mother remembers him running and playing throughout the barns as a young boy.
The family asks that no flowers be sent. Instead, donations can be made to your favorite charity or the Salvation of Army of Indianapolis.
