Longo, Rocco S.

Rocco S. Longo, 94, of Ithaca, New York, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2015.

In 1953, on a blind date set up by friends Tina and Mac Capozzi, he met the love of his life, Carmella who predeceased him in 2014.

Rocco attended Ithaca High School and graduated Cum Laude from Ithaca College in Accounting. Rocco was a proud member of the US Army serving as a Military Police officer in World War II. He was well known for his many years operating a successful Accounting and Tax business in Ithaca, as well as for his witty sense of humor and knowledge of the history of Ithaca. He was an avid golfer, but also spent his early years on bowling and softball teams.

Rocco is survived by his children, John Longo, Michael (Gina Amici) Longo, his grandson Christopher Ferris, and son-in-law Paul Ferris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Carmella, parents Dominick and Teresa Longo and step father, Gaetano Polinari, and his daughter Michele Longo Ferris. He is also predeceased by his brother and his wife, Joseph and Phyllis Longo and sister and her husband, Mary and Ralph Bordoni.

The family would like to thank Joe, Robin and all the caregivers for the love and caring extended to Rocco over the last few years.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bangs Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Church; Father Joe Marcoux will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franziska Racker Center of Ithaca, NY. www.rackercenters.org
