Barbara Fanning Baldwin went to be with the Lord and Jesus Christ on Nov. 30, 2015. She was born Jan. 5, 1924, the daughter of Edmund Sturgess Fanning and Margaret Joralemon Fanning on Maple Grove Farm where she lived for 20 years. She lived the remainder of her life on Fall Brook Road in the home built by her husband and father.
Barbara graduated from Troy High School, Class of 1941, as Valedictorian — an accomplishment also achieved by her mother, brother Graydon, and daughter Anne. She was involved with all the class of 1941 reunions and enjoyed seeing her classmates. She grew up with a passionate love of reading that remained with her until the end. Barbara's work life began at the real estate/insurance office of Henry Mitchell, followed by employment at various Troy businesses ending with 35 years at Cummings Lumber Company, Inc. Two of her favorite pastimes were playing countless games of Triple Yahtzee with her special son-in-law, Brian Allen, and following the San Antonio Spurs with her daughter, Anne.
