(1904 - 1959)

Benedict Espen, 54, of Francis Creek, died Monday afternoon following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, with the Rev. Reginald Schrimpf, S.D.S., officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mr. Espen was born Oct. 27, 1904, in the Town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Nick and Theresa Antholtz Espen. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the medical detachment of the 873rd Airborne Engineer Battalion. Until his illness he had been employed at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Manitowoc.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Frank J. Schrimpf of Francis Creek and several nephews and nieces. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Friends may call a the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
