A requiem high mass will be sung by the Rev. Joseph Rauch in St. Ann's Catholic church at Francis Creek at 10 o'clock Thursday morning for John Ewen, 75, prominent in county and town of Kossuth activities, who died Monday from complications.

The body was removed to the home in Francis Creek this morning from the Pfeffer funeral parlors. Brief rites at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the home will precede the church service. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ewen was a native of the town of Kossuth, having been born on June 28, 1870. Former chairman of the Manitowoc county board, which post he held for five years, Mr. Ewen also represented the township on the board for a span of 18 years.

Until ill health forced his retirement last year he was president of the State Bank of Francis Creek since its organization, and was still a member of the board of directors. In addition he was clerk of school district 4 for nine years and a trustee of the Manitowoc County Asylum board for 12 years.

Mr. Ewen and his wife, the former Mary Kerscher, observed the golden anniversary of their marriage in June, 1945. They were united at St. Ann's church Francis Creek. Mr. Ewen served the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, as its secretary since 1925, and is also a Holy Name member. Both groups will assemble in St. Ann's church at 8 p.m. today to recite the rosary for their departed brother.

Survivors besides the wife are a daughter, Rose, who lives at home; two sons, Edwin of Manitowoc and William of Francis Creek. There are seven grandchildren.
