Clyde L. Canfield, 81, of Parish, died Monday at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego, NY. He was born in Parish, son of the late Clifford and Emma Pickens Canfield. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Germany and was a life member of VFW Post 8822 of Hastings-Parish. He was a General Foreman for the General Motors in Trenton, New Jersey retiring after 32 years. He was the Parish Town Supervisor for 4 years and Oswego County Legislator for the town of Parish for eight years. He was a founder of the Parish Chamber of Commerce and had the Canfield Park named after Clyde and his family in Parish. He was a member of the Parish Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; one sister, Gail Madison, Parish; three daughters, Valerie Santucci, Burlington, NJ, Cindy Westbrook, Columbia, MD, Cathy Canfield, Florence, NJ; three granddaughters, Stephanie Santuzzi, Burlington, NJ; Jennifer Pattik and Kristain Pattik, Columbia, MD; one grandson, Richard Canfield, Florence, NJ; one great-grandson, Richard Canfield, Jr., Florence, NJ; one stepson, Robert Griffith, Hamilton, NJ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Harter Funeral Home, 2983 W. Main St., Parish, NY with Rev. Donald Wiltse officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY. Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Parish United Methodist Church.
