Marilda and her daughter Nora ran a millinery in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. In 1910 in St. Louis, Marilda is listed as a hat trimmer at a millinery. She was also a minister in the General Baptist churches. Marilda Beasley was converted in 1869, and was a charter member of the Macedonia General Baptist church. Marilda Munns (nee Beasley) was licensed to preach in 1892, and ordained in 1895. She is described in newspaper articles as the pastor of the General Baptist Church in Dawson/Dawson Springs, as well as an evangelist. She held revival meetings in several states. Mrs. Munns and Bird Weaver organized a church in August 1895 in Ashbyburg, Kentucky (The Hustler, August 31, 1895, p. 3).
In the 1900 census, Marilda and her husband John Munns are living in the Charleston Magisterial District of Hopkins County, Kentucky with children Virginia and Bertha (daughters of John and Elenor Munns) and Nora (daughter of Marilda and William Cornwell). She is listed as the mother of 5 children, 1 living. The number of years married is given as 29, but this incorrectly dates to her marriage to William Cornwell, rather than dating to when she married John Munns. Marilda Munns sold property in Dawson Springs in 1908, and probably moved to Missouri soon after that. She was in St. Louis by the time of the 1910 census.
In 1930 she is listed as Matilda Munns, and her grandson Albert is living with her.
