Allen D. Jones, 63, of Newmarket was surrounded by loved ones as he went to join his family in Heaven on Monday, December 1, 2015, ending a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was a quiet, gentle man who dearly loved his family. Anyone who had the good fortune of knowing Al liked and respected him. He always held a special place in his heart for children and loved watching those in his life grow.

Allen was born on August 23, 1952, in Beverly, MA. He was the third son and twin number two born to Chester Nicholson and Anna Elizabeth (Malak) Jones Sr. He loved growing up in the country and often reminisced of the good times with his brothers at the Allen farm in Durham, NH.

In August of 1971, he met Diana Reilly while both were employed at Abington Shoe. From the moment he asked her out, they were inseparable. On August 18, 1973, they were married. In 2013, Allen again got down on one knee and they renewed their vows for their fortieth anniversary at home with a cookout for family and friends. This was followed by an anniversary trip to Las Vegas. Allen attended Durham and Newmarket schools. He began working at age 16 and continued until his retirement in 2011. The last 30 years were spent employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He began in shop 06 as a tool and parts attendant and progressed to a machine mechanic. While at the yard, he took many trips to such places as Groton, CT, Virginia Beach, VA, San Diego, CA, and Scotland. The most enjoyable times were when he was able to take Diana and Amy with him. He loved traveling and road trips off the beaten path to visit unexpected sights along the way.

Allen was a former volunteer firefighter with the Newmarket Volunteer Fire department for several years. He was also involved in Boy Scouts and actively participated in Girl Scouts and whatever activity his daughter, Amy, was involved with. He was a wonderful dad and so proud of the woman and mother she grew up to be.

Allen is survived by his wife and life partner of 42 years, daughter and son in law, Amy and Charles (C.J.) LeBlanc, of Newburyport, MA, and the newest joy in his life, one year old grandson, Keegan George Reilly LeBlanc. He also leaves his twin brother and sister in law, Arthur (Arty) and Diane Jones of Newmarket, NH, sister in law, Cindy Jones of Pittsfield, NH, maternal aunt, Mary Malak Woke, of Dublin, OH, sisters and brothers in law Richard (Heidi) Reilly of Newcastle, NH, Cheryl (Milton) Trenholm of Epping, NH, Philip (Barbara) Reilly of Gonic, NH, Lynn (Shawn) Hoffman of Newmarket, NH, Lorrie (Robert) Pitt of Durham, NH, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother, Chester Jones Jr. and his “other” parents, Richard and Barbara (Lang) Reilly Sr. who loved him like their own.

To honor his love and concern for children, please make donations in Allen’s name to a children’s charity of ones’ choice.
