Dr. Denver G. Wilson, 75, of St. Marys died Oct. 6, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Oscar and Nancy Piersol Wilson. He was a member of the St. Marys Presbyterian Church, and a member of the church’s Mariner’s Class. He was a 1944 Parkersburg High School graduate. He was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II where he served in Italy. He attended Northern Illinois College of Optometry. He practiced optometry for 50 years in St. Marys, W.Va. He was a member of the W.Va. Optometric Association, former member of the Pleasants County Board of Education, former member of the Kiwanis Club and member of the St. Marys Elks Club, and enjoyed golfing.

Surviving him are his wife of 55 years, Betty Wilson; two sons, Dennis and his wife Patti of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Joe and his wife Mindy of Parkersburg; one granddaughter, Laura Lea Wilson of Charleston, SC; one brother, Raymond Wilson of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Marie Ross of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alzana Brenneman; and four brothers, Harold, Dale, Gilbert and Edgar Wilson.

Services will be held 2 p.m. today at the St. Marys Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, W.Va., the Rev. Michael Anderson and the Rev. Dan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, W.Va. Visitation is for one hour prior to services at the church.

Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
