ROSE KORTENS
(1885 - 1959)

Mrs. Rose Kortens, 73, of 813 N. 20th St., Manitowoc, died early Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Rev. E. A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Francis Creek.

The former Rose Braun was born in Manitowoc County July 17, 1885, daughter of the late Jacob and Theresa Meyer Braun. She was married to Albert A. Kortens in 1907 and the couple farmed in the Town of Kossuth until 1936, moving then to Manitowoc. He died Dec. 4, 1951. She was a member of the Altar Society of the church.

Mrs. Kortens is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Kaiser and Mrs. Gordon Jansen of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frank Van Alstine of Winona, Minn.; two sons, Edward of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, and Paul of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; a brother, Joseph of Rt. 4, Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Charles Freimuth of Cato; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock this Monday evening.

At Francis Creek, Miss Rosa Braun and Albert Kortens, both of Kossuth, exchanged vows of fidelity and were pronounced man and wife by Rev. Pelligran.

The bride is a daughter of Jacob Braun and the groom is a prosperous farmer of Kossuth which will be the home of the couple.

A large party from this city attended the celebration.
