Helen A. Schultz, age 93, formerly of Francis Creek, died Tuesday, December 31, 1996.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 4, 1997, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Rev. Keith Haag will officiate with burial at St. Anne's Cemetery, Francis Creek.

She was born July 8, 1903, at Rosecrans, Wis., daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Kafka Petska. She grew up and was educated at Maribel area school. She married Emil A. Schultz, June 12, 1923, at Kellnersville. They farmed in the Francis Creek area for many years, retiring in 1952 when they moved to the village of Francis Creek. Emil preceded her in death in April of 1964. She was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church. An accomplished seamstress, Helen enjoyed her family, baking and was an avid card player.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Corine Schultz, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law, Vi and Robert Gauger, Manitowoc; a son-in-law, Wallace Mercer, Brookfield; a sister-in-law, Rose Petska, Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren, Susan (Jerry) Hitchler, Hartland, Robert (Linda)Schultz, Norcross, Ga., Randy (Colleen) Schultz, Green Bay, Dan Schultz and his friend, Sarah Boeckman, Manitowoc, Kym and Karyn Schultz, both of Milwaukee, Debra (Tim) Strickler, Nampa, Idaho, Lynn (Richard) Dvorak, Whitelaw, Roberta (Randy) Brice, Mishicot, Connie (Jim) Morgenstern, Neenah, Julie (Scott) Newcomer, Elm Grove, David (Amy) Mercer, Wauwatosa, Jon Mercer, Brookfield, 18 great-grandchildren; niece, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband Emil, by one son, Lt. Raymond Schultz, in 1944 one daughter, Ruth Mercer, in 1992; one granddaughter, Jane Gauger, in 1950; four brothers and two sisters.

Relatives and friends may call at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church from 10:30 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service.

Memorials would be appreciated to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or the Alzheimer's Association.
