Shirley A. Rowe, 64, of 954 E. Little Bear Road, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her residence. Under a physician's care, she had been in failing health for six weeks.
She was born May 5, 1938, in Connersville, one of six children of John and Mildred Dickey Simmons. A lifelong resident of Connersville, she attended school in Fayette County. She enjoyed camping, listening to bluegrass and gospel bluegrass music and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Rowe of Connersville, whom she married April 19, 1952, in Connersville; nine children, Mrs. Steven (Pamela) Eckerle of Everton, Mrs. Danny (Barbara) Rader of Connersville, Rick (Patricia) Rowe of Everton, Mrs. Nolan (Penny) Grimes of Harrisburg, Dennis (Denise) Rowe of Hamilton, Ohio, Donna Smith and her fiance William Bentley of Connersville, Mrs. Jim (Diana) Burch of Liberty, Mrs. David (Candy) Harlan and Jerry (Barbara) Rowe, all of Connersville; two sisters, Mary Tompkins of Connersville and Janet Garvin of Anaheim, Calif; two brothers, John (Nancy) Simmons and Danny Simmons, both of Connersville; a half brother, Ronnie Rigor of Connersville; and 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Burt Rigor; an infant son, Bobby Rowe; a grandson, B. J. Rowe; and a son-in-law, Eldon "Butch" Gaddis.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel L. Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery.
