Her funeral service was Saturday, December 12, 2015, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dorothy Leona Gustafson was born on May 29, 1922 in Bryant, South Dakota to Carl and Nora (Kovar) Gustafson. She graduated from Bryant High School in 1940. After graduation, Dorothy worked for Axel’s Restaurant in Bryant, and then moved with her sister to Minneapolis and worked for Sears and Roebuck.
After returning to Bryant, Dorothy married Floyd Buckland on July 20, 1946. The couple moved to Huron in 1954. The couple moved to Spring Lake Park, Minnesota for a time and then they returned to Huron in 1965 and Dorothy worked for Randall’s and O.P. Skaggs.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles in the paper, crytoquips, crafts, sewing, and gardening. Dorothy was a voracious reader, marking books that she read so she wouldn’t accidently re-read them. She also loved to square and line dance.
Dorothy was a member of American Lutheran Church, member of the Huron Area Senior Center, American Legion William Reaves Post #7 Auxiliary, and the Huron Rover’s Camping Club.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Crichton of Lake Stevens, WA; 2 sons, Reid (Alda) Buckland of Italy, Randy Buckland of Bellevue, NE; 7 grandchildren, Kea (Scott) Keller, Ryan Crichton, Dustin Buckland, Erik Buckland, Cody (Eileen) Buckland, Kelly Buckland, and Casey Buckland; great-granddaughter, Addison Keller; two siblings, LaVonne Gangestad of Rochester, MN, Charles (Phyllis) Gustafson of Aberdeen; many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd in 2004; sister, June Peterson; brother, Harold (Rose) Gustafson; brother-in-law, Russ Gangestad.
