James and Margaret Croft were married by Rev. A.J Elmore. He served in the Civil War, enlisted on Arp. 28, 1862 at White Sulphur Springs Va. ( it now part of West Va. ) Was captured at Winchester Sept. 19,1864 and was sent to Point Lookout Sept. 24,1864. Was exchanged Mar. 15, 1865 at Aiken 's Landing.
James filed and received a pension under the Federal Government Act of 1884 for Veterans of the Civil War. After his death Margaret also file and got a pension as a WIDOW, under the Federal Government Act of 1902, records on file in the Library of Virginia in Richmond Va.
James is buried in Douthat Cemetery near Ripplemead Bridge Giles Co. Va.
