Leo J. Suess, 87, 103 Sunset View, Francis Creek, died early Wednesday morning, October 28, 1998 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October, 31, 1998, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Ted Hendricks will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Suess was born May 7, 1911, at Pilsen, Kewaunee County, son of the late Mike and Frances Muck Suess. He attended schools at Pilsen. Leo served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1942. On September 21, 1943, Leo married Julia M. Nejedlo at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Pilsen. He worked in Milwaukee, moving to Stangelville in 1945 to operate a tavern and farm. The couple moved to Francis Creek in 1949 and farmed in Francis Creek until their retirement. He was a member of St Anne Catholic Church, a former member of the St. Anne Building and Grounds Committee for 17 years, the Rockwood/Francis Creek Senior Citizens, the WFLA Pilsen Lodge #391 of Luxemburg, a former Village Board Trustee of Francis Creek for 14 years, a former director of the Francis Creek Fore Department for 15 years and a former member of the American Legion Post of Denmark. Leo enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Julia, Francis Creek; two sons, Gary Suess, Brillion, Dave Suess, Francis Creek; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Bruce) Hammes, Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Rick Suess, Rob (Karen) Suess, Shelly (Jason) Schomburg, Luis Hammes and Vince Hammes; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mike (Marj) Suess, California, Edward (Dorothy) Suess, Mishicot, Robert Suess, Pilsen; one sister Rose Mary Roidt, Stoughton, Wis.; four sisters-in-law, Theresa Suess, Luxemburg, Marie Suess, Milwaukee, Marcella Macelle, Luxemburg, Mildred Piescheck, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jim and Julius; one brother-in-law, Ray Roidt; two sisters-in-law, Rita Suess and Mary Claas; his stepmother, Rose Suess.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral services, Kellnersville, is serving the family.
