JOHN A. VANDENBUSCH
(1930 - 2001)

John A. Vandenbusch, age 70, of the town of Kossuth, died Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2001, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, surrounded by his family after a courageous 15 year struggle with coronary artery disease.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2001 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Theodore Hendricks will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post #6179 of Cato.

John was born August 24, 1930, at Green Bay, Wis., son of the late Michael and Jenny Derbique Vandenbusch. He attended schools in Green Bay and graduated from Central High School in 1948. John then served in the United States Navy in the Korean Conflict from October 1, 1948 until September 5, 1952. He then attended and graduated from Green Bay Business School. John married the former Bernadine (Bunny) Johnsen on May 2, 1953, at Green Bay. She preceded him in death on October 22, 1999. John was employed at the Green Bay and Northwestern Railroad until he moved to Francis Creek, where he was an accountant/treasurer at the Wisconsin Feeder Pig Company retiring from Midwest Livestock Producers also holding the position of accountant/treasurer. John was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek, the Francis Creek Lions Club and Lubale-O’Connell V.F.W. Post #619 of Cato. John and Bunny spent many years trucking five kids up north to Boulder Junction, Wis. for a week of camping, fishing and relaxing, first in a tent, then a pop up camper and finally a trailer. John enjoyed hunting and fishing until health slowed him down a bit and spending time with his family and friends at Boulder Junction. John was an avid football fan and watched many hours of it on TV. He also enjoyed going to the casinos hoping to hit the big jackpot.

Survivors include his children, Robert (Jean) Vandenbusch, Gresham, Wis., Terri (Glenn) Steeber, Manitowoc, Denise Bohman, Manitowoc, Patty (Dennis) Musil, Whitelaw, Judy Smith (Ted Zilles), Green Bay. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sarah and April Musil, Valerie and Jerry Bohman, Peter Steeber, Tyler and Nikki Zilles. Other survivors include his three sisters and one brother-in-law, Rita (Wayne) Younkle, Muriel Brammer, Carol Vandenbusch, all of Green Bay; two brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy (Margaret) Vandenbusch, Green Bay and Mike (Marty) Vandenbusch, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sisters-in-law include Marge Algers, Alice Vandenbusch, Jeanne Vandenbusch and Sheri Vandenbusch, all of Green Bay; other survivors include Claude (Betty) Johnsen and Quentin Johnsen, all of Green Bay, Loretta (Florian) Dworak, Rockwood, Ralph Johonsen, Denmark. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bunny; a son, John Arthur Vandenbusch; four brothers, Herman, Bud, Jim and Carlton; an infant sister; a brother-in-law, Ralph Brammer and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville, on Wednesday, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday led by Fr. Ted.

A memorial fund has been established in John’s name.

Dad, we will miss you, but you really have hit the jackpot this time. You are free of pain and loneliness. Once again you and mom are taking care of each other in heaven.
