George C. Wagner, 77, of Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, May 23, at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 915 a.m. Saturday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mr. Wagner was born July 20, 1906, at Milwaukee, son of the late George C. and Martha Carpenter Wagner. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He married Clara Hassemer May 1, 1928; she preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1961. Mr. Wagner was a Butcher by trade and for many years was a State Champion (sic). He was employed in Milwaukee until he moved to Manitowoc upon retirement. On Oct. 19, 1968, he married Martha Kliment Swetlik and the couple resided in Manitowoc. Mr. Wagner was a member of .F.L.A. Lodge No. 114 of Greenstreet and the Francis Creek Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jane Wagner of Jefferson, Wis.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marge and Richard Engel of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy and Doug Prunty of Allenton, Wis.; four brothers, Arthur of Manitowoc, Chester of Cooperstown, Eugene of Francis Creek and Alvin of Kewaunee; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Cookle of Manitowoc, Mrs. Martha Delsmann of Manitowoc and Mrs. Elmer (Grace) Reinders of Brookfield, Wis.; 17 grandchildren and a great grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of services. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Friday by Deacon Don Gigure.
