Alvira E. Zucchi, age 94, of 2150 S. 15th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal rest late Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand Avenue. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Felton with burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.
Alvira was born Feb. 17, 1912 in Marble Head. She was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Onesti Tagliapietra. On Sept. 29, 1928, she married John C. Zucchi at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. He preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1982. Alvira had been employed at Holy Family Hospital in the laundry and sewing department for 15 years. Alvira moved from Rockwood to Manitowoc in 1990. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi attending at the Grand Avenue site. She enjoyed cooking, baking, her daily walks and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law: Jerome and Shelby Zucchi, Dwight, Ill.; Kenneth and Beverly Zucchi, Manitowoc; Marilyn Zucchi, Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters: Mary Greget, Hartford; Josephine Leggio, Milwaukee; one brother and sister-in-law: John and Della Tagliapietra, Clintonville; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends surviving. Alvira was preceded in death by her husband: John C. Zucchi, Sr. in 1982; one son: John J. Zucchi, Jr. in 2004; one daughter: Mary Jane Mleziva in 1995; one sister: Rita Cupertino; three brothers-in-law.
