Sr. Mary Carmel Raab -- V.H.M., died at the Visitation Monastery on September 24, 2003, after a long illness. A native and long-time resident of Long Island, New York, she was employed by the New York Telephone Company until 1962 when she entered the Visitation Monastery of Mobile. She was professed in 1965 as an extern sister and served many years in this capacity. She was preceded in death by her parents, George J. and Ellen Raab; her five brothers, Anthony J. Raab, Joseph Raab, George J. Raab, Jr., Gerard J. Raab and Fabian J. Raab; and by her four sisters, Gertrude M. Kuehn, Agnes M. Rogers, Sr. Mary Francis Raab, also of the Visitation Monastery, and Ellen M. Raab. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mrs. George (Camilla) Raab and Mrs. Gerard (Mary Helen) Raab, and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A wake service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. in the monastery chapel. Visiting hours will be from 3:00 P.M. on Friday, September 26, 2003, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb, D.D. Ph.D, at 4:00 P.M. at the Visitation Monastery Chapel. Interment will be in the monastery cemetery. Arrangements by Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy., Mobile, AL. 478-5227
