He was a graduate of Canton South High School. He served in the US Army during WWII as a Tec 5. He worked at Timken Roller Bearing for a few years. In 1956, he started Wayne Auto Sales, a salvage yard in Dover.
Wayne liked traveling around the world, having visited places such as Greece, Alaska, Arizona, and Hawaii. Once he retired, they spent the winters in Fort Myers, FL.
Wayne enjoyed working on cars, especially rebuilding Ford Rangers. He was a hard worker. When he could no longer work on cars, he died of a broken heart (heart attack).
When he died, he left two sons and five grandchildren. The family continues to grow.

Wayne E. Hay, 70, of 1544 McMillan St., Dover, and also a residents of Fort Myers, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 30, 1995, in his home following an extended heart condition.
He founded Wayne Auto Sales Inc. of Dover in 1956.
Born June 9, 1924, in East Sparta, he was a son of the late Ralph and Clara Strobel Hay. He was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Dover Exchange Club. He was a graduate of Canton South High and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Kinser Hay, with whom he would have celebrated 49 years of marriage March 3; two sons, Eric and Rhea Hay and Keith and Cindy Hay of Dover; five grandchildren, Arica Setla, Kristi Fortney and Carrie, Cody and Casey Hay; and two step-grandchildren, Amy and Chad Miller.
Funeral services will be help Thursday at 1 p.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Dan Legg officiating. Interment will be in Fort Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar. Friends may call in the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Assn. or the American Heart Assn.
