"William Lemon Worthington, Sr. age 83 of Huntsville, Al died Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Bill was born in Holt, Al the youngest of eight children to Grover C. and Lillie Worthington. Bill was a beloved coach, scoutmaster, Bishop, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended the University of Alabama and lettered on the track team as a pole vaulter in the early 1950’s. Lt. Worthington served in the US Airforce in SAC as a navigator on the B-52 bombers at the end of the Korean Conflict. Brother Worthington moved from the Atlanta, Ga area in 1977 where he worked and retired from the electronics industry. He served as a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Visitation is Friday December 18th at Spry Funerl Home from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be conducted Satruday December 19th at the LDS church on Sparkman Drive at 11 am with Bishop Eric Cowan officiating. Mr. Worthington will lie in state one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
