Resident of Cherry Creek for Nearly 60 Years Dies at Home of His Son, Floyd H. Abbey

CHERRY CREEK, Dec. 14 -- Chauncey J. Abbey died at the home of his son Floyd H. Abbey, Wednesday evening at 10:25 o'clock, aged 75. He was born in Iowa and came here at the age of 16, where he had since resided. Mr. Abbey was a member of the Baptist church and when younger he belonged to the Cherry Creek grange. He was one of the town's prominent farmers and one of the first to keep purebred Ayrshire cattle. He married Miss Addie Cookingham, who died four years ago.

Mr. Abbey is survived by his only son, Floyd H. Abbey, at whose home he was cared for in his last illness, and since the death of his wife. He also leaves three grandchildren, Alfred Abbey, Mrs. Frances Abbey Decker and Mrs. Florence Abbey Frost, and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Abbey home on the North road Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. Walter H. Hughes, pastor of the Baptist church, to conduct the service. Interment will be in the Cherry Creek cemetery.
