Elaine Brown died on Jan. 9, 1947 at the age of 29.
She was born to Walter Samuel Watson and Bessie (Blake) Watson on May 22, 1917. Her father Walter died in Feb. of 1922 when Elaine was 4 1/2 years old.
Her mother Bessie remarried Addison Holland Bates in Aug. of 1923. At some point he adopted Elaine and she took his last name of Bates.
Bessie and A. Holland Bates were married for 15 years when Bessie died in Aug. of 1938.
It is unknown where A. Holland and Elaine lived for the next few years, most probably in Western Massachusetts, but there does not seem to be mention of them in the 1940 census.
At some point, Elaine married a Mr. Brown and ended up living near Orlando, FL.
It is unknown if they had children.
Mrs. Brown was working at the Wyoming hotel in Orlando when she was discovered in a diabetic coma and was taken to Orange Memorial Hospital, Orlando, where she died. She was married to Mr. Brown and she was a waitress.
Her adopted father was A. Holland Bates and her mother was Bessie Louise Blake Watson Bates. (Her biological father was Walter Samuel Watson.)
