Mr. Richard Duane Nelson died peacefully at his home in Mesa, Arizona on 9 Nov 2015 at the age of 86.
Duane is survived by his wife Judith Backus Nelson, daughter Laura Standage Richard, Richard Nelson, Lisa Wyman Keith, Carol Huntington Kurt, Jim Nelson Yany, David Nelson, 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren, brother Dennis Ruby and brother-in-law Victor Shill. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Nelson and Kate Patterson Nelson, sister Shirley Kleiner Pat, sister Patsy Shill and Great Granddaughter Ella Standage.
Duane was born on 6 Aug 1929 in Mesa, Arizona to Richard and Kate Nelson. He graduated from Mesa High and attended Arizona State University. He married Judith Backus in 1960. They are the parents of 6 children. He worked at the City of Mesa Planning and Zoning department for nearly 40 years.
A funeral is scheduled for 13 Nov 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Enrose Ward building, 925 N Harris, Mesa, Arizona at 10:00am. He will be interred at the City of Mesa Cemetery.
