1. Beech (born 1881)
2. David "Price" (born 1882)~~my grandfather
3. Robert (born 1885)
Their father was Daniel Breck Rawlins, Jr., and their birth mother was Sallie Dunaway Rawlins.
Their birth mother died at age 23, just barely over a month after Robert was born. It is not certain, but thought she passed due to complications from childbirth.
Daniel went on to marry Louisa Land after Sallie passed, and they had a large number of children together, and continued to reside in Estill County. My grandfather told my father that his stepmother, Louisa, was very good to them, and cared for and prayed for the three oldest sons like they were her own.
Daniel Breck Rawlins, Jr. lived in a cabin with his family that once stood at the base of hill leading to Chestnut Stand (His first wife, Sallie, is buried in Chestnut Stand Cemetery.)
David Price was my parental grandfather. He went by his middle name, Price, not David. He was born in 1882, and was 60 when my father (also named Price) was born in 1942.
[Interesting note: Daniel Breck Rawlins, Jr.'s father (Daniel Breck Rawlins, Sr.) was first cousins with John Aaron Rawlins. Their fathers were half brothers. John Aaron was Chief of Staff for the entire Union Army during the Civil War, and a close friend, confidante, and adviser to Ulysses Grant before, during, and after the War. Grant promoted John Aaron to Secretary of War before his life was cut short due to an ongoing battle with tuberculosis.]
My father has confirmed the info above, based upon information my grandfather shared with him before he passed in 1956 from throat cancer.
