James Walter Amonette, 75, 712 Hillsboro Rd.; died Wednesday in Henry County Memorial Hospital. A native of Byrdstown, TN, he was a son of James F. and Mary (Hyder) Amonette.

He retired from Dana Corp. in New Castle after 25 years. He had been employed as custodian of First Bible Free Will Baptist Church where he had been for more that 10 years. A dahlia fancier, he had been awarded 55 ribbons in various flower shows.

He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle for more than 30 years.

Survivors are his wife Nova; two sons, Paul K. Amonette of Indianapolis and W. Leon Amonette of Muncie; five step-children, Mrs. Jesse (Rosemary) Neal, Jim Watson Sr., Mrs. Don (Shirley) Paschall and Jim Joynes all of New Castle and Jesse Joynes Sr. of Middletown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Miss Tana Amonette of Byrdstown, TN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dale G. Amonette and 10 brothers and sisters.

Burial in South Mound Cemetery.

(In 1910 Pickett Co., TN: James J. and Mary had the following children: Rueben J. 1889, Benton 1891, John G. 1893, Mary S. 1895, Sampson V. 1897, Dilia Zylphia 1900, Louisa K. 1902 James W. 1904, Lowary A. 1905 and Siltany R. 1907. Mother-in-law Zylphia Hyder also lived with them. James Walter Amonette married Nova Viola Joynes in TN on July 17,1965.)
