Mr. John Thomas Drury, age 84, of Pine Tree, died Friday, Nov. 14 2003, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro. Mr. Drury was born Oct. 23, 1919 in Colt, and was the son of Charles Drury and Cora Green Drury. He lived in the Pine Tree area for most of his life and was a veteran of World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Drury was a charter member of the St.. Francis County Farmers Association. He was a member of the Colt United Methodist Church. In 1954 Mr. Drury married Inez Spince, and she preceded him in death in 1979. He married Ida Whittle in 1980, and she survives him, along with four daughters, Debbie Clegg of Colt, Johnny Jones of Forrest City and Pat Johnson and Phyllis Weddington, both of Wynne; a stepson, Buddy Whittle of Forrest City; three sisters, Vera Brown and Martha Bennett both of Wynne and Elizabeth Adams of Colt; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One sister, Viola Jordan, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery.
