AITKEN, William Russell – Passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 21, 2014 in his 72nd year at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener. Loving husband and best friend of Elizabeth Aitken (nee Franks) of 51 years. Cherished father of Kelly and Mandy (Martin) and dear father-in-law to Bruce Hilker. Devoted grandfather to Lauryn and Rachel Hilker and Julia and Benjamin Tomlinson. Dear brother of Pat McCathie (Brian) and George Aitken (Rena). William will sadly missed by several brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his parents George and Annie (nee Cunningham) Aitken. William’s family would like to express a heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care provided by the Red Cross, Bayshore Home Health, Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Freeport Hospital. William’s family will welcome friends at the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Thursday January 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Rosary Prayers being held at 2 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Parish, 16 Cooper Street, Cambridge on Friday January 24th at 11 am. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to either the Alzheimer Society, or to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation.
